New Fruit
There are a number of new fruits we have found here.
This is a pile of pomelo. A LARGE citrus.
Something like a grapefruit.
Very thick skin - from 1/2 to 1 inch thick. The largest dimension is about 9-10".
The segments have a lot of seeds but they are easy to separate from the flesh. The little pockets of juice in the ones we had were sweet but not as juicy as most citrus we are accustomed to. It was milder and less bitter than a grapefruit. A lot of fun. Most people had one or two segments so when we all had some we'd consumed 1 and a half pomelo.

Pomelo is the word they used in Spain for grapefruit. I think most of the rest of the Spanish world calls them Torronja. Interesting to me is that clementines (what we called tangerines as a kid) were called mandarins.
