Ten for someday

1. Niccus is getting baptized next Sunday. This morning I typed the program up. Mom and Dad are coming out - and you can too!

2. DW is helping to make a baptism dress for Niccus. Wow!

3. Harvey Jr went to a regional academic team competition yesterday and did well. Although he was from the lower of the two grades involved he was captain of the math team - and led the team to first place. They did well in the other subjects as well with one other first place.

4. Laundryman is diligently studying for AP tests. Lots of them. And he is planning on taking 7 science & math AP classes next year. Nerd!

5. Speaking of tests, the freshman HKPeter took the SAT for practice this year and scored over 2100. What's up with that?

6. The scouts chose a garage & bake sale for their one fundraiser this year - we got rid of a lot of junk and we sent cinnamon rolls - like the ones we did for farmers market. And they sold them for $1 each like the ones at farmer's market. And they sold incredibly well, generating nearly 10% of the revenue of the sale!

7. Birdman has a tooth. And a really bad-sounding cold.

8. DW, Snoozer, Niccus, and Holly have started violin lessons with a teacher other than Pooka. And Laundryman has as well.

9. Junior Mint loves cars and things mechanical and electronic in a way I don't recall seeing before. This is an indication that either my memory is awful or I won't have to do any oil changes after he turns 8!

10. It is too early, and it is cold outside with too much rain. But we have planted and planted and planted. Onions, Radishes, Lettuce, Turnips, Beets, Chard, Mangels, Tomato, Dill, Pepper, Juneberries, Cabbage, Kohlrabi, Pak Choi, Mizuna, Lettuce, Spinach, and Stevia. Most things were started indoors and only move out after weather warmed up enough. Some - like tomato and pepper - got a space in our new mid-tunnel greenhouse. We'll see if it takes the edge off the cool nights enough to allow fertilization and fruit production.

Sounds like things are going swimmingly at your place. What pray tell are mangels? I recognized everything else. Plus best wishes on your garden! Will you eventually uncover your tomatoes and peppers! (for some reason I can't recall how far north you guys are.)
