Happy Mothers Day!!
We've had a lot of fun this past couple weeks. In the past week we've had a prom, opening night and closing night of a play three children were in, a vocal concert, and the culmination of a semester long multidisciplinary school project. And we made cheese.
Pookums was invited to accompany one of the finer young men(Pikachu) in the ward to the LDS prom. She and Pooka started weeks ago working on a dress and really did a great job. Pookums had a great time, and I think Pikachu may have as well.

Several months ago LaundryMan auditioned to be in his middle school musical, Rindercella - or something like that. He was given the roles of herald, footman, and minister and played them well - especially the part where he had to help the stepsisters try on the glass slipper.
Pooka attended the rehearsal early this past week and noticed that the transition from the scene where The Prince rediscovers Rindercella and the wedding scene was long and rough. She offered the director some help in the form of two flower girls - complete with costumes, choreography, and flower petals to strew. They did a wonderful job helping the audience not notice the wait while rindercella changed from rags into her wedding gown.
Harvey Jr and DW were in a choral concert. PTHK had a project on Kuwait - ask him about the cultural riches of kuwait, or the details of desalinization.
For the past several weeks we've been drinking goat's milk. One older couple in our ward has a number of farmyard animals - including a milk goat - that Pookums has been going to help with occasionally for more than a month. In the past couple weeks the farm has become a regular stop on the way home from Seminary. One goat can provide over 1 gallon of milk each day - even while helping to provide for three rambunctious kids. We do not consume quite as much milk as she produces so I did some reading (on line and on paper), ordered some rennet, and made mozzarella - or something like it - on Friday evening.
I used one gallon of milk, yielding about 1 pound of cheese: it didn't take us long to consume most of it on Saturday morning. I saw lots of opportunities to do better next time, but others seemed to enjoy the cheese a lot. On Saturday I turned the leftover whey into ricotta. We'll be trying again this week. After we master mozzarella we'll move on to more difficult cheeses that need aging.
